If you’ve seen Master Chef Series 1, you’ll be familiar with the name “Zumbo”.
If you haven’t, then let me tell you more about this young Sydney based Chef with an African sounding Greek Name.
In July 2009, he put forward his creation to the dismay of the Masterchef contestants - It was a Chocolate Mousse Cake that would take HOURS to complete. This cake got so much publicity, his little store got inundated with orders. He wasn’t able to fulfill the requests so he created a lottery system on his website… he’d make 100 of these cakes and donate proceeds to charity… After a few weeks of waiting, we were notified of the news that we made the list

We drove our way to our regular brekky place in Pyrmont and stumbled upon a series of signs for the Hunters Hill Fair… We were early so thought we’d have some time to check out this little fair before we made our way down to the City.
The fair was a lot larger than we imagined

The weekend of feasting had only just begun… Richie and Anna asked us over for a simple dinner… BEHOLD THIS SH!T (I’ve been saying that alot lately - catchphrase of a little car community I’m in)!
I could feel another visit to the hospital just looking at this roast.. but damn it would be worth every IV drip strapped to my arm!

It was a beautiful Sunday today and it was just too damn good outside to laze about in my bed (although I still managed to spend an hour in bed pondering if I should get out and make the most of the day)…
The coffee in the air was refreshing… I haven’t had a coffee in about 3-4 weeks at this stage so I was feeling like bouncing off walls just from the scents in the air.

It looked like a massive turnout this year…

After what seemed like an eternity in hospital, a return to the good life was inevitable as soon as I was released from that depressing prison.
The usual breakfast of coloured jelly and packaged fruit was left in my wake… a visit to XXII was part of my rehabilitation (just don’t let my doctor know about it)
It looks like I lost most of my 9kgs on my head… The jacket I’m wearing below actually fits now (I bought it in Harajuku a few weeks earlier without being able to zip it up - I wasn’t planning on growing (or rather shrinking) into it! - I can now comfortably zip up this jacket with room to house a large chihuahua)

On Thursday 25th June, I underwent a endoscopy of my stomach (that’s when they knock you out with drugs and insert a camera down your throat). My specialist found some tumours in there and took some samples of the stomach lining for some additional testing. An hour after I got home, I was in immense pain. My stomach acids were entering the wounds created when the samples were taken and I was admitted to hospital shortly afterwards.

Ahhhh long weekend… I was looking forward to a full day of sleeping in on the Queens Bday holiday today. My dreams of waking up and leaving my bed at dinnertime were smashed at 9am sharp this morning.
Instead of a planned lazy day in bed… My better half has suggested doing the “Bay Run” after having brekkie at Rozelle. Food.. that was a good start.. but I wasn’t too sure about the “Bay Run” side to her master plan.
This is the alternative brekkie joint we frequent if Cafe XXII in Pyrmont is off the cards.

Had a shitfight at work today and was faced with escalation after escalation… I figured 10 hours of that was enough for the day… I did have a hot man-date with Rhys (a colleague of mine from work who is into a lot of the same shit that I am as well as a whole of of stuff I’m unaware of).
Rock on.
7pm, we walked out of work and the night was freezing… I was expecting the sight of emperor penguins to complement the weather that smacked us in the face as we left our building (with malfunctioning air conditioning).
With our guts filled with a deluxe fine dining experience from Oporto’s at St Leonards station.. we punched on to Olympic Park on Sydney’s Silver Limousine for the masses (also known as ShittyRail).
We walked about 1000km to the other end of the stadium that the train station was on and when we got there… we had to climb a number of escalators to bring us up to the “nosebleed” section of the stadium. The cold and the height that we were seated truly felt like a Himalayan mountaineering expedition.
