Day 1 of my trip to San Diego for a work conference… via a detour through Hawaii…
I’m a crap flyer… I can’t get a wink of sleep on a plane and I guess watching the clouds pass me by would be much more interesting than watching grass grow… Especially if the sun meets you on the other side…

First things first.. once we hopped off the plane we needed to find a ride… Should we hire a cab? or should we…

Yep… we took option 2

Waikiki was about 20 minutes from the airport and the trip was pretty pleasant (even in peak hour)

Spotted a rolla over there with some dishy Watanabes…

Here’s where we’re staying… it’s not quite 5 star lux… but it’ll do (we’re hardly in the hotel anyway)

So we got to our hotel at about 7:30am… we aren’t able to check in until 3pm… We were totally knackered from the lack of sleep over the past 24 hours and decided to drop off our gear at the hotel, grab a few towels and sleep on the beach like hobo’s (there’s plenty of them in Waikiki btw)

The hobo’s have a pretty good waterview from their bedroom!
After a longer nap in our hotel room, we cruised around in the Mustang top down with some Aussie tunes on the ipod.. cos that’s how we roll.

Statue of the duke below… He’s kinda a big deal around here… Wiki him to find out more.

It’s no surprise that he had a restaurant named after him..

Decor is interesting and the food is pretty damn good here too (I highly recommend the Baby Back Pork Ribs)
